Digital Fundraising and Annual Giving Manager
Climate Central is an independent group of scientists and science translators who research and report the facts about our changing climate and how it affects people’s lives. Using science and technology, we produce local climate storylines and visualizations that make climate change relevant and actionable. Our work covers climate science, sea level rise, extreme weather, energy, and related topics. About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, the Digital Fundraising & Annual Giving Manager leads Climate Central’s strategy for small-dollar fundraising and digital donor engagement. This role manages the organization’s annual fund portfolio (donors under $5,000) while developing and executing digital campaigns designed to expand and sustain Climate Central’s donor community.
This position will play a central role in expanding Climate Central’s small-dollar donor base and building a scalable digital fundraising program. The Manager will design and execute multi-channel fundraising campaigns, strengthen donor retention and acquisition, and develop innovative approaches to engage supporters online.
Working closely with colleagues across development, communications, and content teams, this role ensures fundraising campaigns are timely, compelling, and aligned with Climate Central’s science-first, non-advocacy mission.
Success in this role will mean significantly expanding Climate Central’s small-dollar donor base and building a scalable digital fundraising program that increases donor acquisition, retention, and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Annual Giving Program Management
- Manage and grow Climate Central’s annual fund portfolio (donors under $5,000).
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual donors with defined annual fundraising goals.
- Analyze donor history and capacity to identify prospects for major and planned giving pipelines.
- Develop and manage regular donor communications and newsletters.
Digital Fundraising Strategy & Campaigns
- Design and execute multi-channel fundraising campaigns across email, web, social, and print.
- Develop digital fundraising assets including emails, landing pages, donation forms, and campaign materials.
- Plan and implement giving day campaigns and other small-dollar fundraising initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze campaign performance to optimize donor acquisition, retention, and renewal.
- Test and implement new approaches to digital fundraising and audience engagement.
- Maintain a coordinated digital fundraising calendar aligned with organizational priorities.
Internal Collaboration & Alignment
- Partner with development leadership to support annual fundraising goals and donor programs.
- Work with communications, content, and program teams to develop coordinated fundraising messaging.
- Identify and research donor prospects for potential cultivation by frontline fundraisers.
- Ensure fundraising communications reflect Climate Central’s non-advocacy, science-first approach.
- Coordinate with website and content teams to support digital fundraising tools and engagement.
- Track and analyze campaign performance (open rates, conversion rates, revenue, donor retention) and use insights to optimize future fundraising efforts.
Required Skills/ Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in digital fundraising, direct response, or nonprofit development.
- Proven experience developing and executing email-driven fundraising campaigns and multi-channel digital fundraising strategies.
- Strong experience with email fundraising and digital donor engagement.
- Experience building donation forms, surveys, and digital engagement tools.
- Ability to analyze campaign performance and apply insights to improve results.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to produce compelling fundraising copy quickly.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and manage competing priorities.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
- Demonstrated creativity, initiative, and responsiveness to fast-moving news cycles.
- Commitment to Climate Central’s mission and climate science communication.
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS (additional coding experience a plus).
Preferred Skills/ Experience
- Experience managing an annual fund or donor portfolio.
- Experience with Salesforce, Canva, Photoshop, or digital advertising (e.g., Google Ad Grants).
- Familiarity with donor research tools such as iWave, Windfall, or WealthEngine.
- Experience in fast-paced digital fundraising environments, such as political campaigns, advocacy organizations, or other rapid-response communications settings, is a plus.
Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000, depending on location, experience, and qualifications.

Location and Eligibility
This position is primarily remote, in accordance with Climate Central policy. Periodic travel to headquarters in Princeton, NJ or other locations may be required for team meetings and events.
